I just wanted to post up and formally introduce the Tenkara Guides crew to the TenkaraBum Blog. Together we are ERiK Ostrander, John Vetterli, and Rob Worthing. We are active on the Tenkara USA forum, and always posting trip reports 'cause we fish all the time!
We are super psyched on tenkara, and have been pushing the limits of tenkara as much as we can. Between the three of us we usually get around 4-6 days of fishing each week, so we're constantly honing our skills. We know how effective tenkara is, and how much the fish hate it!
Our official description: We are a tenkara-based fly fishing guide service specializing in Utah streams and rivers. We provide a first rate guiding experience using unique, effective and easy to learn methods of fly fishing perfectly suited for Utah’s waters. Our experienced tenkara fly fishing guides will design a unique trip customized to your schedule, level of adventure and experience.
Check out our website at TenkaraGuides.com and check us out on FaceBook too. We post up trip reports, as well as tips that will help you catch more fish with your tenkara rod.
We are treating the Tenkara Summit as our official coming out, and are happy to be the first fly fishing guide company exclusive to tenkara. If you're in Virginia, check out Tom Sadler who guides through Mossy Creek Fly Fishing, and Ryan Jordan who guides Montana through Back Packing Light
Hope to see you at the summit! We'll be the ones with TenkaraGuides.com hats.

“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten” - Benjamin Franklin
"Be sure in casting, that your fly fall first into the water, for if the line fall first, it scares or frightens the fish..." -
Col. Robert Venables 1662
As age slows my pace, I will become more like the heron.
We've all had situations where seriously chewed up flies kept catching fish after fish after fish. It is no sin to tie flies that come off the vise looking seriously chewed up.
The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.
Beware of the Dogma
All the hooks sold on TenkaraBum.com, whether packaged as loose hooks or incorporated into flies, are sharp - or as Daiichi says on their hook packages, Dangerously Sharp. Some have barbs, which make removal from skin, eyes or clothing difficult. Wear eye protection. Wear a broad-brimmed hat. If you fish with or around children, bend down all hook barbs and make sure the children wear eye protection and broad-brimmed hats. Be aware of your back cast so no one gets hooked.
Also, all the rods sold on TenkaraBum.com will conduct electricity. Do not, under any circumstances, fish during a thunder storm. Consider any fishing rod to be a lightning rod! Fishing rods can and do get hit by lightning!
