New Species (for me)

by Terry Farmer
(Albuquerque)

Went to a recently opened mountain creek in Northern NM a few days ago. Had big fun fishing my Suntech Suikei 39 with a level line and flying ant pattern. Caught 11 mystery fish. They looked a lot like trout, which is what I was expecting to catch, but something just wasn't quite right. Later in the day I learned they were Chubs. Wild and native Rio Grande Chubs. They're great little fighters and quite beautiful with orange fins and gill slashes. There's real truth to the old saying "you learn something new every day".

“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten” - Benjamin Franklin

"Be sure in casting, that your fly fall first into the water, for if the line fall first, it scares or frightens the fish..." -
Col. Robert Venables 1662

As age slows my pace, I will become more like the heron.

Warning:

The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.
