Love it

by Tim
(St. Louis, MO, USA)

First time out with my TenkaraBum 36 today, and I caught 5 Rainbows in under 45 mins using nymphs. My drifts never looked so good! So much fun .... only caught 2 on my 9 wt. :-)

Nice!
by: Les Albjerg

Tim - That TenkaraBum rod will grow on you! I don't fly fish much anymore. The direct connection and ability to more accurately manipulate a fly has me hooked on fixed line fishing! I have many rods, and I would say I fish my TenkaraBum 40 50% of the time. If I could only keep one rod, it would be either my TenkaraBum 40 or possibly the TenkaraBum 44.

Fishing a crystal clear stream last weekend would have required an 8 to 12 foot leader on a fly rod. I was able to fish my Tenkara rod with an 18 inch leader and catch fish with my Tenkara rod.

by: Chris

There are spring fed trout parks in MO that I would bet stay cold enough year round.

Cool Springs
by: Alan Luecke

At this latitude (Missouri) the temperature ten feet under ground is 56 to 58 degrees year round. Spring fed water is trout water.

Hidden Gems!
by: Les Albjerg

Last spring, I had a mentee who grew up in Missouri. He has made an annual trip to fish the spring creeks and steams for the past 24 years since leaving Missouri. I thought it a little strange to go that far for trout until I saw the pictures. I tried to get him interested in Tenkara.

He is a dedicated spin fisherman. He showed me pictures of several 3 plus pound browns caught on 1 pound test line! Mark said one pound test was his secret weapon.

Good rods
by: David

I'm not surprised by your experience. I don't have a TB36, but the TB40 has become one of my favorite 4m tenkara rods this summer after ordering it this spring. The grip took a little getting used to. After that was adjusted to it's all been good.
