Hand Carved Rod Plug

by Jensen

I emailed a couple days ago inquiring about rod plugs. I picked up a dry lilac branch today in the yard, right after sharpening my new buck knife and right before heading out to catch fish for the Blue Fly challenge (email coming next). I started whittling I have a new rod plug after a touch of tung oil to finish it off. I thought you might be interested in seeing it. The rod is the 3.6 meter starter kit rod. I left a channel in the plug so I could use it while still attached to the line.

Genius. Pure genius. Artful, too. Well done.

I think you should add some scrimshaw along the butt section. That would be really cool.

Damn dude, very nice work. I'd like one of those to fit my soyokaze 31. You should make few and sell them.

As age slows my pace, I will become more like the heron.

The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.
