The bonus...
OK, I know what you're thinking Chris, I'm crazy. But I couldn't resist casting my fly when saw her coming my way.
The craziest part is that after breaking the rod I was able to recover the broken part and managed to bring the lunker for a picture using only the Pro spec upper sections.
Well, to cut a long story short, along with attached pictures, down goes a Youtube link with the last moments fighting the fish.
I learned many lessons that day. One of them is perhaps tenkara rods are not intended for big fish they certainly can bear much more than 16" trout.

“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten” - Benjamin Franklin
"Be sure in casting, that your fly fall first into the water, for if the line fall first, it scares or frightens the fish..." -
Col. Robert Venables 1662
As age slows my pace, I will become more like the heron.
We've all had situations where seriously chewed up flies kept catching fish after fish after fish. It is no sin to tie flies that come off the vise looking seriously chewed up.
The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.
