1st Tenkara fish

by Rick
(Petersburg , NY , USA)

April 4th, first nice day of trout season in upstate NY. First day ever with Tenkara. Kiyotaki 27 and olive Tenkara fly. I fished a small creak that I fished as teenager often, 50 years ago. The section that I fished was a group of pools with good water. I had the good luck to get a 16" Brown trout. Tenkara is a big part of a new path in my life, being retried and fighting cancer. A good day.

“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten” - Benjamin Franklin

"Be sure in casting, that your fly fall first into the water, for if the line fall first, it scares or frightens the fish..." -
Col. Robert Venables 1662

As age slows my pace, I will become more like the heron.

Warning:

The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.
