ZimmerBuilt Tenkara Gear sets the standard for tenkara-specific packs and pouches. From the Guide Sling, developed in close cooperation with the Tenkara Guides in Salt Lake City, to the small Tenkara Micro Pack, all are designed to meet a specific need and are made right here in the USA. You will not find better gear.
Just a rod, a line and a fly sounds great but it doesn't reflect reality - particularly if you need to carry more than one rod, plus a lunch, some water, a rain jacket, more than just one fly pattern, ... The list goes on.
If you're a guide, and have to carry stuff for your client in addition to yourself, or if you're a dad and have to carry stuff for your son or daughter in addition to yourself, you will definitely appreciate the capacity of the Tenkara Guide Sling. (And if you're a mom and have to carry stuff for the whole family, you absolutely, positively need a Tenkara Guide Sling!)
The main part of the pack is 19.5"x10"x3" and the second layer (ZimmerBuilt calls it the outer pocket) adds another 13"x9"x1.5". The Sling Pack has a small cuben fiber pouch in the main part of the pack and a mesh pouch in the outer pocket. The 2 external rod sleeves will hold 6 tenkara rods, even more keiryu rods or enough sieryu rods for a whole cub scout troup. The external rod sleeves can also double as pockets when you don't need to carry 4 rods. The shoulder strap has molle webbing to attach a Tenkara Chest Pack, Strap Pack or Micro Pack. The Guide Sling weighs 10.3 oz. The zippers are water resistant.
The Tenkara/Spin/BFS Guide sling differs from the Tenkara Guide Sling in one main respect. The Tenkara Guide Sling has molle webbing and shock cords across the top of the outer pocket. The Tenkara/Spin/BFS Guide sling has a second molle webbing along the bottom of the outer pocket. Two shock cords are fitted on the lower webbing, allowing you to securely hold two of the Long Rod Cases with shock cords top and bottom.
The lower molle webbing and shock cords offer a significant advantage over holding the Long Rod Cases in the external rod sleeves. If a two piece rod is held in the external rod sleeve, it will tower over the top of the sling and catch on branches as you walk down a streamside trail. The shock cords allow you to hold the Long Rod Case with the lower end quite a bit below the bottom of the sling. The top end will not stick out and catch on branches. You may have to remove the sling or rotate it around your body before sitting down, but that is a small price to pay for being able to carry two two-piece spinning or BFS rods and not have them catch on branches.
The two pockets and upper molle webbing / shock cords are exactly the same as on the Tenkara Guide Sling, so even if you fish only tenkara, the Guide Sling is just as useful as it's always been.
The Tenkara Sling Lite is smaller and simpler than the Tenkara Guide Sling. It has one compartment that measures 20"x8"x3" and has just about the space you'll need for your lunch, a water bottle, a rain jacket and a little bit of gear. And if you don't carry a lunch, some water, and a rain jacket, why in the world not? You don't have to get very far off the road to not be found quickly if you happen to fall and sprain an ankle. And even if you don't fall, having a bit of food and water with you makes for a more pleasant day on the stream.
The Tenkara Sling Lite has a hook for a water bladder and a hose port at the top of the pack.
As with the Tenkara Guide Sling, the Tenkara Sling Lite has two rod sheaths on the back which will conveniently hold as many rods as you could want.
The shoulder strap has molle webbing to attach a Tenkara Chest Pack, Strap Pack or Micro Pack. The Tenkara Sling Lite weighs 7.7 oz and has a water resistant zipper.ZimmerBuilt Tenkara Sling Lite - $80
The Tenkara Strap Pack is designed to attach to the shoulder strap of the Tenkara Guide Sling, Tenkara Sling Lite or any other pack with shoulder strap webbing. The top opening and generous 6" x 4.5" x 2" dimensions allow easy access to a TenkaraBum Easy Grip fly box or C&F 1544 fly box, a Small Tenkara Line holder and two spools of tippet (sold separately). The front outside pocket will hold more tippet or small tools. The rear outside pocket will hold flat items like a package of tippet rings, a TipGrip or coiled line like the Nissin PALS SP Pro tapered fluorocarbon line. The Tenkara Strap Pack weighs just 1.5 oz. Two upper loops allow for easy connection of the supplied cord so the Tenkara Strap Pack can also be carried around your neck.ZimmerBuilt Tenkara Strap Pack - $30
The Tenkara Micro Pack is designed for those who travel light and carry just the essentials. It easily holds the TenkaraBum minimalist fly box, a line holder and a spool of tippet. The outside front pocket will hold your nippers or a second spool of tippet. It is also a handy accessory to the Tenkara Guide Sling - providing easy access to a few flies, a spool of tippet and a line holder. The pack measures 5"x3"x1.25" and weighs .75oz. The Micro Pack can be attached to the webbing of a shoulder strap or can be carried by the supplied lanyard.

The ZimmerBuilt Water Bottle Pocket with Belt Loop is a custom design for minimalist anglers who carry one rod, a line, a spool of tippet, a Minimalist Fly Box or Altoids box of flies but want a convenient way to carry a water bottle. The 2 1/4" belt loop fits most belts.
The Water Bottle Pocket is 7" deep and holds a 24 oz sports drink bottle or 20 oz spring water bottle. The cinch cord and cord lock hold the bottle in place (and will also keep smaller 1 pint bottles from falling out when you bend over to unhook a fish).ZimmerBuilt Water Bottle Pocket with Belt Loop- $12
