I got to fish my new Nissin Honryu 380 today. I wasn't sure if I would like it just wiggling it out of the box. It's a much softer rod than what I've been fishing with. I was pleasantly surprised! Rigged up with 10' of #3 level line and 4' 5X tippet. This rod is SMOOTH. It seems to cast itself. I landed a few rainbows with ease. I love it.
Recently I stepped on one of my Nissin rods. Chris sent me a replacement section in a matter of days. My latest purchase, the Honryu 380, arrived damaged by USPS. Chris promptly sent a new replacement rod to cover my loss, again in a matter of only a few days. You can't beat this level of customer service anywhere. Tenkara Bum is #1.
“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten” - Benjamin Franklin

As age slows my pace, I will become more like the heron.
We've all had situations where seriously chewed up flies kept catching fish after fish after fish. It is no sin to tie flies that come off the vise looking seriously chewed up.
The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.
