Most fish caught - personal best from day 1!

Tax return season. Love it. This year I bought a Rhodo starter kit from Tenkara USA. Yesterday was my fist time using. Taking my daughter to work I stopped to try it out on the way home. What a blast! I caught 10 fish, all pan fish. 8 were about 2 1/2 in. long and 2 were 5-6ish, and another half dozen that slipped off the hook before I could land 'em. Best part was the location... in a creek running through a shopping plaza! mostly shallows with a few pools no more the 4 ft deep. Here I am, surounded by cars driving by, Walmart, Lowes, restraunts, and fast food casting away as I worked up stream for about a quarter mile. One guy came down to ask if I was really fishing or just practicing. I laughed and took the opportunity to share this new joy with him. Never have I had this much fun fishing. It's alsways been about enjoying the peace and quiet with lots of idle time to mull over anything, and if I could come home with something; cool. This. THIS was fun and exciting! I spent the rest of the night showing videos to the wife and talking how much she would enjoy this style of fishing. After yesterday, why would I fish any other way?

“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten” - Benjamin Franklin

"Be sure in casting, that your fly fall first into the water, for if the line fall first, it scares or frightens the fish..." -
Col. Robert Venables 1662

As age slows my pace, I will become more like the heron.

We've all had situations where seriously chewed up flies kept catching fish after fish after fish. It is no sin to tie flies that come off the vise looking seriously chewed up.

Warning:

The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.

Beware of the Dogma

Seriously, all the hooks sold on TenkaraBum.com, whether packaged as loose hooks or incorporated into flies, are sharp - or as Daiichi says on their hook packages, Dangerously Sharp. Some have barbs, which make removal from skin, eyes or clothing difficult. Wear eye protection. Wear a broad-brimmed hat. If you fish with or around children, bend down all hook barbs and make sure the children wear eye protection and broad-brimmed hats. Be aware of your back cast so no one gets hooked.

Also, all the rods sold on TenkaraBum.com will conduct electricity. Do not, under any circumstances, fish during a thunder storm. Consider any fishing rod to be a lightning rod! Fishing rods can and do get hit by lightning!
