I just picked up more hooks to tie my favorite nymph pattern (mixed synthetic and natural dark reddish-brown dubbing with a 5/32 inch gold tungsten bead head).
So far my favorite is a Tiemco barbless nymph hook. It has an extra fine barbless point, and it seems even the small fish (2-3 inch wild rainbows) can't wriggle off like other barbless hooks.
In case anyone wants to try/look for them, theyre the TMC403BLJ hook (I use size 10). The 60 degree bend near the eye helps put the bead in a proper nymph position.

As age slows my pace, I will become more like the heron.
We've all had situations where seriously chewed up flies kept catching fish after fish after fish. It is no sin to tie flies that come off the vise looking seriously chewed up.
The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.
