North Central New Mexico

I went exploring a few days ago. The East Fork of the Jemez River runs for about a mile through a beautiful mountain canyon just south of the Valles Caldera National Preserve. Boulders, cliff faces, meadows, pools, riffles, tall pines, and wild brown trout. I didn't see another soul all day and the weather was perfect. I'm truly blessed.

Jemez, hey fish?
by: Joaquin

Nice. I was planning a trip to Valle Caldera Sunday. I can't seem to sort out the method of getting a permit, first come, first served seems a crazy way of doing it, but as long as there is some fishing in the east fork near the park, or San Antonio, I guess it wont be all bad if we cant get a ticket to fish it. I got skunked last week after all the rains below battleship, and nearly swore off Jemez for good! Driving up on Sunday, I could use some of your "luck" :)

Joaquin, I think Chris gave you my email already. If not, he has permission. Email me before you head to the Caldera. I've got some tips for you!

Pecos & Jemez
by: Bill

Terry would you mind if I contacted you about Tenkara fishing these rivers? I've just gotten a short 270 rod from Chris for the brushy sections but it's clear I may need something in addition.
