TenkaraBum Challenge - Spotted Bass
by Alan Luecke
(Kansas City, MO)
I was fishing the Osage Fork river at the inlet of a small mostly dry creek. The water formed some long very shallow pools that had lots of little fish. In among them were some bass that I had been unable to engage with the size 12.
This little spotted bass took the 25 on the first pass.
Differentiating between a small spotted bass and a young large mouth is very difficult. I'm making the spotted bass call based on the jaw line which does not extend past the eye and the Ozark river location.
The whole plan of the day was to get a smallmouth which didn't happen.

As age slows my pace, I will become more like the heron.
The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.
