Northern Studfish

Northern Studfish

After working a size 12 for a while I rigged up my Suntech Kurenai with one of two size 25 Killer Buggers I had tied but put off fishing because they're tiny and I would need shot and I'm lazy.

After discovering that I had left my micro shot at home I disassembled a small fly and tied the bead onto my tippet four or five inches above the fly. My first cast produced this Northern Studfish which I'd never heard of and couldn't ID until I got home.

Welcome to the world of micro fishing.

Cool Micro

Nice catch and way to think outside the box using a bead in the place of micro shot. I'v never carried beads with me but I might start because I've forgotten micro shot a few times while micro fishing and it really ruined any chance of catching the micros I was after.

As age slows my pace, I will become more like the heron.

The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.
