TenkaraBum Challenge - Cutbow Hybrid Trout
by Alan Luecke
(Kansas City, MO)
Paul Vertrees from Rigs Flyshop in Ridgway, Colorado and I began our day fishing the inlet of a mountain stream into a small lake in the Cimarron Mountains of Western Colorado. After a couple of small rainbows I caught this nice cutbow hybrid on a size 16 beadhead killer bugger. The lack of red stripe, distinctive spots and color on the gills mark it as a cutbow. Most importantly Paul said it was.

As age slows my pace, I will become more like the heron.
The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.
