Covid-19 Announcement

Most international flights have been cancelled.

There is no ETA for out-of-stock items that come from Japan.

Shipments to overseas buyers will take longer than normal - possibly much longer. Patience is a virtue - especially in fishing.

More fish caught on blue flies

by Vic Velasco
(Reston, VA)

I decided to go try for some striper. Not the huge cows you have to go dredging for, but some of the schoolies that run around the middle Potomac. I hit Gravelly Point just North of Reagan International at dawn and was casting clousers hoping for a good tug-o-war. No stripers today. I did see a few big catfish and carp, but they were not interested in the choice of fly I was presenting. Surprise surprise - I warded off the skunk by nailing a school of sunfish. I caught several with a white on chartreuse gurgler. But I did cut off the gurgler to get some blue fly action in. Here is another with a smaller blue killer bug.

“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten” – Benjamin Franklin

"Be sure in casting, that your fly fall first into the water, for if the line fall first, it scares or frightens the fish..." Col. Robert Venables 1662

As age slows my pace, I will become more like the heron.

The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.
