TenkaraBum Winter Challenge 5" fish on a size 20 hook

by Terry
(Georgia)

Why do I want to switch the kebari when a size 16 black killer bugger is working? Because this challenge is not over yet. I felt a little bit guilty last time as I used a SJ worm; this was big for the hook size. I brought a size 20 Ishigaki style kebari this time, but it did not produce. So, I switched to a size 20 micro egg and fished for a couple of minutes and caught this one.

I caught the fish at the tail end of the Chattahoochee DH section in Atlanta.

I'm not sure if the links work, but in any case, UGA has some information about these fish. It appears that the ranges overlap just south of Atlanta.

Spottail shiner?
by: Chris Stewart

I thought it was a spottail shiner. I believe the weed shiner has a black stripe on its side. It would help to know where in Georgia it was caught. It doesn't look like their ranges overlap.

I'm no biologist, but I'd say weed shiner.
