TenkaraBum Challenge - Channel Catfish
by Levi Cain
(Blanchard, OK, USA)
Size 14 Black Killer Bugger
Since I had the day off and the weather was nice, I decided to hit Walnut Creek again to try and get more species for the challenge. But instead of using small flies I up'ed the fly size to a size 14. And sure enough it worked. I was able to catch 2 small channel cats on the same fly by allowing it to sink to the bottom and then bouncing it up and down as I retrieved it. I could see large schools of young catfish so i worked the fly through the school and almost every time a cat would follow the fly but wouldn't always take it.

The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.
