Nissin Zerosum Oni Tenkara 450

by Terry Farmer
(Albuquerque)

I recently got to try out my new Oni 450. My wife and I went up to the Rio Costilla area in Northern New Mexico. I fished the river and Latir Lake #3 with the rod. This rod is extraordinary. It's robust, the section joints are all reinforced. It's light in hand. It casts itself. As some other reviewers have reported, the rod is full flex so the entire rod loads for casting. This rod has changed my approach to tenkara casting. If you can't tell, I'm STOKED about this rod!

Oni Zerosum 450

Terry,
I really like mine also. I have now landed a rainbow that was 18 inches, unfortunately he fought rather like a slug. I have also taken a smallmouth that was about 15 inches and he fought like a champ.

I can hardly wait until this fall and I will hunt some big boy browns in various areas back here in the east.

Like all Oni rods nice and smooth.

I own the I,II and the 450

Which is my favorite? I just don't know they are all very good rods.

Oni Honryu 450
by: John Vetterli

When this rod first became available I made some bold claims about it. Because Masami Sakakibara is a very good friend of mine, I'm sure people thought I was blowing sunshine up their skirts about this rod. It's good to hear that other people find it as awesome as I do.

People can send me photos of their best catches and I will forward them on to Masami Sakakibara. He is extremely interested in seeing how this rod performs for people that fish a wide variety of species and water types.

Agreed!

The Nissin Oni Honryu is an amazing big fish rod! I love that it has sensitivity and feel on smaller fish/hits, then backs it up with power to battle the big ones. I have caught some really nice fish on this rod so far including hybrid striped bass and spotted gar. Handled the larger fish great! This is a great bass true Tenkara rod.
