Horse hair fly lines are the best ones

by Bernard
(Toulouse-France)

I recently came to Tenkara style and after having tested some standard Tenkara lines, I came to the horse hair lines proposed by TenkaraBum.

I discovered a line incredibly well adapted to my Ayu 13'. The cast is very easy and smooth.

The line is stronger than I thought. I even caught a nice chub (rather fighting) from a place where I had no possibility to land it. I decided to try to break the line and making a quick move with the rod, the tippet broke at the level of the last section I made in 12/100mm (6X) of very good nylon but the horse hair did not break.

The service offered by Chris is also great and now he even offers a kit to make or repair the horse hair lines.

No come back to standard Tenkara lines is possible!

Horsehair line kits
by: TenkaraBum

Nearly all the people who have tried horsehair lines have really liked the way they cast. And if you don't snag a tree or rock, they seem to be plenty strong enough.

Having the kits so people can make their own or repair them should introduce a lot more people to horsehair lines - at least I hope so.
