First trip with Tenkara on The R.Alyn, North Wales

Got my new rod, a 12ft Iwana and had a great day on my first trip. I soon got used to casting but our river is a bit overgrown as it does at the backend. I still fished small Tenkara type spider flies and a caught lot of fish. The presentation is so much better than with a normal fly rod I caught in places that I haven't before? I can't wait to get to the other river I fish which is the R. Calder. It is more upland and rougher. It flows from the Pennines and our beats are near the headwaters. Lots of pocket water where I have some success but expect to improve.
