First time Tenkara newbie

by Robert Rotolo
(Webster .NY)

I purchased the Kurenai HM33R. After attaching level line, tippet, some fly I had for years, went to a local pond to try it out. I was catching sunfish and bluegills with every cast. So off to the local trout stream, after several casts, a trout took the fly, I was not ready and did not react quickly enough, so Monster fish in question spit it out.

Now I need to practice getting my response time down.

Any way, it was a ball.

The rod was so light it was a pleasure casting sideways, to avoid overhanging fly eating trees.

“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten” - Benjamin Franklin

"Be sure in casting, that your fly fall first into the water, for if the line fall first, it scares or frightens the fish..." -
Col. Robert Venables 1662

As age slows my pace, I will become more like the heron.

Warning:

The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.
