Black Friday Bargains
Edited to add: The brown and purple dyed starlings, hen pheasant wings and snowshoe hare's feet have been reordered and are now available on the
Fly Tying Materials
page. Just to let you know, I am not going to open the doors at midnight on Thursday the 24th. I guess webshops never really close, though, so if you happen to be up and see something you like, click away. I do have a few things that I could put "on sale." Each of the following are items that I only have one of. They were all items that I thought I might carry on an ongoing basis. Some, like the brown-dyed starling and the hen pheasant wings, will be reordered and added to the offerings. Some, like the rooster pheasant skin or the ruffed grouse skin, probably will not.

Well, Black Friday's come and gone but what hasn't sold is still available. After Cyber Monday I'll move it all over to the Fly Tying Materials page and mark things at their normal retail price.
Brown-Dyed Starling
This is really nice. It is a top quality skin, bleached and dyed brown, and there are lots of feathers that are just the right size and color for a size 14 Ishigaki Kebari. Because starlings have lots of small to very small to impossible-to-tie-they're-so-small feathers, you could tie Ishigaki midges if you wanted to.I like soft hackled flies and believe the brown starling Ishigaki Kebari are going to prove to be just deadly. This is the second one I have gotten. I'm keeping the first one for myself! I'll reorder these, but they'll come back at a higher price. Brown-dyed starling - $6
Purple-Dyed Starling
I'm not as excited about this one. It is a top quality skin, but because the starling feathers are naturally pretty dark, the purple is not really dramatic. The feather tips are purple, as is the fuzz. On the main part of feather it isn't as noticeable. I think this is why Tenkara Ashley ties her Punk Rock Kebari with more of the fuzz than I would normally use. When I tried the flies, the results were pretty impressive, though. (It was the only time I was ever able to outfish Dr. Ishigaki and Daniel put together!)If I reorder, they'll be at a higher price. Purple-dyed starling - $6
Gamble's Quail Skin
This is another skin I may not restock. I thought it might be nice for a soft hackled Ishigaki Kebari BWO. It's not a bad choice for that, and there are a lot more smaller feathers on a quail than on a partridge or chukar, the other alternatives I've tried, but the skins are small and relatively expensive. We'll see.Gamble's Quail Skin - $10
Ruffed Grouse Skin
This is a nice skin, but I do not think I will get more. The feathers are a bit large although there are some around the neck and on the wings that would work for size 12s. If you tie sakasa kebari in larger sizes for bass, though, this skin's for you. Tail not included.Ruffed Grouse skin - $9
Rooster Pheasant Skin
This is a beautiful skin, as are almost all rooster pheasant skins. I had thought that the copper colored feathers would look nice with the copper wire used in the Sakasa Copperbari, but I decided I liked either partridge or hen pheasant better. I think 3 feathers have been taken from the skin, and the skin does not include either the wings or the tail. The late Jack Gartside wrote that you could use every feather on a pheasant skin. For sakasa kebari, though, I like the hen skins better. Rooster Pheasant Skin - $8
Hen Pheasant Wings
These will be back. Hen pheasant wings have small roundish feathers near the front part of the wing that I use for Killer Kebari. (I also use smaller feathers from the neck for Killer Kebari, but most skins don't come with very much of the neck still attached.) If you tie winged wets, the flight feathers can also be used for bunched wings.Hen Pheasant Wings (pair) - $3
Snoeshoe Hare's Feet
These will be back as well, and not only because Kiwi uses snowshoe hare for his Usuals. Like CDC or deer and elk hair, the hair from the bottom of a snowshoe hare's hind foot floats naturally, so anglers who do not wish to use floatant can use it. Unlike CDC or deer and elk hair, though, there are no export restrictions on it.When I reorder, the price will be higher. Snowshoe Hare's Feet (pair) - $3 International shipping surcharge - $1
Payment
Payment is through Paypal but you don't need to have a Paypal account. You can use your credit card. PayPal payments will be made to chris at tenkarabum dot com. Credit card statements will read CM Stewart.
Shipping
Any of the above items can be shipped domestically for a flat $3 charge. The only item that can be exported is the snowshoe hare's feet. They will require an additional $1 postage. International shipping surcharge - $1
