Dr. Ishigaki's Line
Sold Out
Dr. Ishigaki's line is a bit like Rodney Dangerfield, it doesn't get any respect. Since Dr. Ishigaki's recent tenkara lecture and demonstration in San Francisco, there has been a quite a bit of interest in his rod but virtually none in his line. To me, that is reminiscent of the people oohing and aahing over his hand-carved, hand-painted fly box, and totally ignoring the flies that are inside it. Dr. Ishigaki is the leading proponent of level line tenkara in Japan, and the line he uses is a hi-vis chartreuse level fluorocarbon line that is very nice indeed. It is unavailable in the US, and for that matter, only available at a handful of places even in Japan.

It is a very nice line, but I believe the TenkaraBum Hi-Vis orange line casts just as well and is a little bit more visible against a green background of forest or brush. Under some conditions, though, Dr. Ishigaki's chartreuse line is a bit more visible. By the way, Dr. Ishigaki said "nice line" when he examined the orange line when we fished together in California.I guess I should clarify the "Dr. Ishigaki's line" statement. It is the line he uses. He doesn't make it or sell it. I have had small quantities of this line from time to time. I do not have any now and do not have definite plans to reorder but if you would be interested in getting some please go to the
