Fished a tailwater Sunday with 13 ft Tenkara rod, 7x and killer bugs. The versions tied with killer bug yarn and a sand Prismacolor marker were slightly more effective than the Utah version. Both were tied with pink ultra wire on #4 tenkara hooks.
Had one break off but landed 8 rainbows. Each rainbow was about 12 inches. The break off was bigger than 12. The killer bugs outfished my usual gray pattern which is very effective.
I noticed that a furled line seemed to cast better for the killer bugs especially with a pinch on indicator. A level size 3 line did cast well for small light flies.
